Situated at sea level altitude; approx. 2.000 inhabitants; Distance from Portoferraio, km. 19,800. Marciana Marina is one of the most important towns of the island. The first settlement was situated on the rock formation 'del Cotone' (from the word 'cote', which means something like : big stone), where a small bay gave -and still gives- shelter and repair possibilities to the fisher boats.
