La Residenza si trova sul versante orientale dell'Isola d' Elba lungo la strada che congiunge il caratteristico paese di Rio Marina alla turistica località di Cavo.
Rio Albano was built in the second half of the nineteenth century as prison bathrooms and was used as accommodation and general washing facilities for the prisoners who worked in the mines extracting iron. Nowadays the completely renovated building situated on the western side of the Island of Elba near Rio Marina offers 12 comfortable and quiet apartments on the hillside above the sea, away from the chaos of the town.
The beaches
Cala Seregola is the nearest beach to Rio Albano, being just a few hundred metres away.
It is a beach of small pebbles which reflect the light due to the presence in them of tiny crystals. Until a few decades ago the area belonged to a mine and in various places among the rocks it is still possible to see the remains of it.

The apartments
The 6 one-room apartments, 4 two-room apartments and 2 three-room apartments all have sea views. They have all been furnished with particular care to detail and offer the client air-conditioning, heating, television and a very large, comfortable bathroom. Some of the apartments have a garden where it is possible to relax and have meals listening to the slow rhythm of the waves.

Guided tours by train
The Island of Elba's Mining Park is a project aimed at the environmental upgrading and reclamation of areas damaged by iron mining. At Rio Marina visitors are offered educational activities such as research and the study of minerals in the brand new Environmental Education workshop. Hikes with environmental guides to search for minerals at the Bacino site. Tours by wheeled train to explore the main mining sites in Rio Marina. The educational aim of this short trip aboard the characteristic train is oriented to learning the basic history of iron mines and the geo-mineralogical value of this side of the island of Elba.
